Anime Expo 2026 Los Angeles – Complete Exhibitor Guide and Why Your Booth Design Matters

If you are a brand, creator, or business in the anime and Japanese pop culture industry and you are thinking about exhibiting at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, this is the guide you need to read before you do anything else. We have put together everything you need to know about the event, how to get your industry badge, what to expect on the show floor, and how to make sure your exhibit booth actually does its job when tens of thousands of passionate fans walk through those doors.

At Interior Today LLC, we build exhibit booths for brands and businesses at conventions and trade shows across the country. Anime Expo is one of the most exciting and high-energy events we work with, and we want to help you show up ready.

What Is Anime Expo?

Anime Expo, commonly known as AX, is the largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America. It started back in 1991 as a small gathering organized by members of UC Berkeley’s anime club, Cal Animage Alpha, and it has grown into a massive annual event that attracts fans, creators, and industry professionals from Japan, the United States, and all over the world.

The event is organized by SPJA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire the world through Japanese animation and culture. That mission has stayed consistent even as the event has scaled dramatically over the decades.

Anime Expo brings together the best in Japanese entertainment, music, fashion, video games, and anime content all in one place. For businesses in this space, it is one of the most valuable gatherings of the year.

Why Should Your Brand Exhibit at Anime Expo 2026?

This is a fair question, and the answer is straightforward. Anime Expo brings tens of thousands of anime fans and pop culture enthusiasts together in Los Angeles for multiple days. These are not casual browsers. These are dedicated, passionate consumers who actively spend money on merchandise, collectibles, clothing, games, and experiences connected to the culture they love.

Here is what exhibiting at Anime Expo 2026 can do for your brand:

It gives you a powerful platform to launch a new product. Whether you are releasing a clothing line, a collectible figure, a video game, or a new series, Anime Expo puts your launch directly in front of your exact target audience.

It builds brand visibility at a scale that is hard to replicate. Thousands of fans walking through an exhibit hall means thousands of eyes on your booth, your branding, and your products over the course of a few days.

It connects you with other industry professionals, creators, directors, voice actors, and publishers who are all in the same space at the same time. The networking value alone makes the event worthwhile for many businesses.

It lets you participate in the cosplay culture that is central to the Anime Expo experience. Brands that engage with the cosplay competition, host activations, or simply design their booth to match the energy of the event tend to get far more engagement than those who treat it like a standard corporate trade show.

And beyond the convention walls, Los Angeles offers a rich surrounding environment of Japanese culture-inspired restaurants, shops, and activities that extend the experience for attendees throughout the week.

Major Highlights of Anime Expo 2026

Anime Expo is not just a shopping floor. The event features a wide range of programming and experiences that keep attendees engaged across all four days.

The exhibit floor showcases a massive variety of merchandise, collectibles, artwork, and rare finds — from limited-edition figures to authentic Japanese snacks. For exhibitors, this means your booth is surrounded by an audience that is actively in a buying mindset.

The event also features panels and workshops hosted by renowned voice actors, directors, and artists. Exclusive premieres and screenings of the latest anime series and films are part of the programming, which draws massive crowds and keeps energy high throughout the event.

The cosplay competition is one of the most popular elements of Anime Expo. Attendees come dressed in incredibly detailed and creative costumes, and the energy on the floor reflects that creativity. Brands that design booths which complement or celebrate this culture tend to leave a much stronger impression.

How to Get an Industry Badge for Anime Expo 2026

If you are a business or creative professional attending in an official capacity, you will need an Industry Badge. Here is how that process works.

Anime Expo welcomes creators and trade professionals across anime and Japanese pop culture industries. The Industry Badge is specifically designed for individuals who are part of the creative or business process of Japanese pop culture.

Who is eligible for an Industry Badge?

Eligible applicants include people in business development associated with Japanese anime and pop culture — agents, publicists, buyers, executives, marketing professionals, sales representatives, producers, and legal representatives. Also eligible are individuals involved in convention management (chairperson, director, or manager level), creative professionals such as voice actors, animators, and editors, and content creators including YouTubers, TikTokers, and influencers with a minimum of 500,000 followers or subscribers on their primary platform.

Support staff in administrative, IT, facilities, operations, QA, or HR roles are not eligible for the Industry Badge.

What does the Industry Badge include?

The Industry Badge provides the same access as a standard 4-day attendee badge, plus access to the Industry Lounge and priority entrances throughout the event. The badge costs $100, plus any applicable fees.

Key dates to know:

  • Application Opens: January 20, 2026
  • Registration Opens: January 20, 2026
  • Application Deadline: June 4, 2026
  • Registration Deadline: June 19, 2026

Important: On-site registration is not available. You must apply in advance and complete registration within two weeks of receiving your approval email. Only one Industry Badge is allowed per approved applicant, and all sales are final with no refunds.

If you are shipping your badge within the United States, credentials purchased through June 8, 2026, will be mailed. For Canadian orders, the shipping cutoff is June 4, 2026. International attendees must select Will Call or ship to a US or Canadian address. Badge mailing begins in early June 2026, and the last day to change your shipping address is April 17, 2026.

Understanding the Autograph Experience at Anime Expo

This is relevant for exhibiting brands that are hosting talent appearances or partnering with voice actors, directors, or artists at the event.

Anime Expo has two categories of talent: Guests and Industry Appearances.

Guests are brought out and fully supported by Anime Expo and SPJA. Their panel appearances and autograph sessions are coordinated by the organization. Autographs from Guests are free for attendees. For Anime Expo 2026, Guest signature tickets will be distributed through an online lottery system, and all tickets will be digital — no physical autograph tickets will be issued.

Industry Appearances, on the other hand, are supported by a company host, agency, or the talent themselves. Autograph procedures for Industry Talent are handled by the individual, their management, or the hosting company — not by SPJA. Autographs from Industry Talent are typically paid, and pricing varies per talent. These sessions are first come, first served and are not handled through a lottery.

If your company is hosting a talent appearance at your booth or as part of an event activation, understanding these distinctions will help you plan the logistics clearly and communicate expectations to your attendees.

Why Your Anime Expo Booth Design Can Make or Break Your Experience

Here is something that many brands learn the hard way at their first Anime Expo: the audience at this event is visually sophisticated. These are fans who spend hundreds of hours watching beautifully animated content, who create incredibly detailed costumes, and who can spot low-effort presentation from across a crowded hall.

A generic, corporate-looking exhibit booth simply does not land the same way here. It can actually work against you, signaling to attendees that your brand does not understand the culture.

On the other hand, a booth that is designed with creativity, color, energy, and attention to detail draws people in. It becomes part of the experience rather than just a sales counter. It gets photographed and shared on social media. It creates moments that attendees remember and talk about.

This is exactly why the design and build quality of your booth matters so much at Anime Expo compared to other trade shows.

How Interior Today LLC Builds Booths for Events Like Anime Expo

At Interior Today LLC, we approach every event with the specific audience in mind. Anime Expo is not the same as a medical trade show or a corporate technology conference, and your booth should not look like it belongs at one.

We work with exhibitors from the very beginning of the planning process — understanding your brand identity, your products, your goals for the event, and the overall aesthetic you want to achieve. From there, we design a booth concept that matches both your brand and the energy of the event itself.

Here is what our process looks like:

We start with a design consultation where we learn about your brand, your target audience at the event, and what you want visitors to feel when they walk up to your space. For Anime Expo exhibitors, this often involves incorporating bold visual elements, immersive lighting, display areas for merchandise or collectibles, and spaces that encourage people to stop, engage, and take photos.

We then move into full design and fabrication. We build everything in-house, ensuring the quality is consistent and that your booth arrives at the Los Angeles venue exactly as designed. We use materials that are durable enough to withstand a busy multi-day convention floor while looking polished from morning setup to closing time.

Our team handles full installation at the venue. We understand convention center logistics, we follow all applicable display guidelines, and we make sure your booth is completely set up and ready to go before the doors open.

We also handle all booth graphics and branding elements. Whether you need large-format backdrops, product display panels, hanging signage, or custom printed surfaces, we produce everything and make sure it is exhibition-ready.

After the show closes, our team manages the teardown and ensures everything is handled efficiently so you can focus on following up with leads and making the most of the connections you made at the event.

Tips for Exhibiting Successfully at Anime Expo 2026

A great booth is the foundation, but here are a few additional things to keep in mind as you plan your Anime Expo 2026 presence:

Apply for your Industry Badge early. Applications open January 20, 2026, and availability is limited. The earlier you apply, the smoother the process will be.

Plan your booth design months in advance. Anime Expo is a high-demand event, and the best booth builders are often booked well ahead of the convention dates. Starting the conversation early gives you more creative freedom and more time to get everything right.

Think about the attendee experience at your booth, not just the product display. At Anime Expo, the brands that create experiences — interactive elements, photo opportunities, limited edition giveaways, live demonstrations — tend to generate far more buzz than those that simply set up a product table.

Engage with the cosplay community. Some of the most effective exhibitor activations at Anime Expo involve celebrating or supporting cosplayers in some way. It shows cultural respect and creates genuine connection with the audience.

Have a clear social media plan. Anime Expo attendees are very active on social media throughout the event. A visually striking booth that gets photographed and shared extends your reach well beyond the people who physically visit your space.
