What Is the NACDS Total Store Expo?
The NACDS Total Store Expo is widely recognized as the largest and most influential gathering in the retail pharmacy and chain drug store industry. It is not just a trade show — it is a structured business event designed specifically to connect manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers with the senior retail decision-makers who run the biggest drug, food, mass, specialty, and eCommerce retail chains in the country.
Over 160,000 store locations are represented at this event, with more than 250 leading domestic and international omnichannel retailers attending across drug, food, mass, specialty, natural, eCommerce, and value channels. These are not junior buyers browsing the floor — they are industry decision-makers with real purchasing authority and active buying agendas.
For manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers in the consumer health and wellness space, a strong presence at NACDS Total Store Expo is one of the most direct paths to growing retail distribution, launching new products, and deepening strategic partnerships with the most important chains in the country.
The show format combines a formal business program — featuring keynotes, expert presentations, and insight sessions on the most pressing issues in today’s retail environment — with structured meetings between retailers and exhibitors on the exhibit hall floor. This is not a passive networking event. Every hour on the exhibit floor is an opportunity to build the relationships that drive your business forward for the next 12 months.
Who Exhibits at NACDS Total Store Expo 2026?
The Total Store Expo brings together every segment of the retail health and wellness supply chain under one roof. Exhibitors include:
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) manufacturers
- Over-the-counter health and pharmaceutical brands
- Beauty and personal care companies
- Food and beverage brands distributed through drug and mass channels
- Retail technology and point-of-sale solution providers
- Supply chain, logistics, and asset protection companies
- Sales and marketing agencies
- Consulting and business development firms
It is important to note that all Associate and Supplier participants must purchase an exhibit booth in order to attend. There is no walk-in access to the exhibit hall for non-exhibitors. Your booth is not just your display space — it is your entry ticket to the room where the buying decisions in your industry get made.
The Venue – Boston Convention and Exhibition Center
The 2026 NACDS Total Store Expo will be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) in the Seaport District of Boston, Massachusetts.
The BCEC is one of the largest and most modern convention facilities in the northeastern United States. It offers over 500,000 square feet of total event space, including a main exhibit hall that is among the most impressive in the region. The venue is well-positioned for large-scale trade shows, with excellent logistics infrastructure, on-site catering from the venue’s in-house provider, and direct connectivity to Boston’s Seaport hotel district.
For exhibitors, the BCEC has specific rules around booth construction and installation that are important to understand before you begin planning your exhibit. These include fire code requirements from the City of Boston, Massachusetts Convention Center Authority regulations, and union labor requirements that apply to all installation and dismantling work. Interior Today LLC is fully experienced working at the BCEC and handles all of this compliance as part of our standard service.

Booth Rules and Regulations – What Exhibitors Need to Know at NACDS 2026
The NACDS Total Store Expo has detailed booth regulations that every exhibitor must follow. Here are the most important rules to understand before you start designing your booth.
Inline Booth Regulations
Inline booths are defined as 10 feet deep, regardless of length. The key height rules are:
- No part of an inline display may exceed 10 feet in total height.
- The back 5 feet of the booth can extend up to the full 10-foot height.
- The front 5 feet of the booth can only extend up to 4 feet in height.
- Back and side drapes must remain in place and cannot be removed.
- All graphics, logos, and products must face into the contracted booth space and cannot extend beyond the booth footprint.
Island Booth Regulations
Island booths are 20×20 feet or larger. Key rules include:
- No height restriction other than the physical limitations of the BCEC facility.
- Island booths on main aisles must open facing the main aisle.
- Solid walls along the perimeter must be finished with company branding or graphics covering a minimum of 50% of each wall.
- Special written NACDS approval is required for all multi-level and two-story booths, any booth structure exceeding 16 feet in height, all overhead hanging signs, and all overhead structures and fabric.
Fire Code Requirements at the BCEC – Critical for Multi-Level Booths
The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is subject to City of Boston Fire Code and Massachusetts Convention Center Authority regulations. If you are planning any covered area or multi-level structure, these rules apply:
- Any covered area under 300 square feet requires a working smoke detector and a visible 10-pound ABC fire extinguisher.
- Multi-level or two-story booths, and any covered area over 300 square feet, require a sprinkler system connected to the convention center’s domestic water supply. This must be ordered in advance through the MCCA and cannot be added after move-in.
- Engineer-stamped drawings for multi-level booths must be submitted by May 3, 2026.
- All hanging signs must maintain a minimum 10-foot clearance from the exhibit hall floor.
This is not straightforward for exhibitors to navigate alone. Interior Today LLC handles all compliance documentation, fire code requirements, and special approval submissions as part of our full-service exhibit building process.
Other Key Rules
- No cash-and-carry sales are permitted from the booth or anywhere at the event.
- Products containing CBD cannot be sampled or distributed at the BCEC.
- Only one company per 10×10 space is allowed.
- All exhibitors must be registered. Booth personnel per 100 square feet receive one complimentary registration.
- No one under the age of 21 is permitted on the exhibit floor at any time.
- Business casual attire is required on the exhibit floor.
- All exhibitors must vacate the hall within 30 minutes of each day’s scheduled closing time.
Why Your Booth Design Matters More Than Ever at NACDS 2026
With over 250 major retail chains represented on the show floor and every competing supplier and manufacturer in your space exhibiting right alongside you, the NACDS Total Store Expo is one of the most intensely competitive exhibit environments in the retail industry.
Retail buyers at this show are sophisticated professionals. They evaluate brands constantly. They compare products, packaging, pricing, and company credibility in rapid sequence as they walk the floor. Your booth is not just a backdrop for conversations — it is the first and often most lasting signal they receive about your brand’s quality, ambition, and readiness to be on their shelves.
A booth that is generic, poorly branded, or visually uninspiring tells a retail buyer something about your company before you shake their hand. A booth that is well-designed, professionally built, and visually distinctive tells them something entirely different. The brands that win major retail placement often trace that breakthrough to a powerful trade show presence at an event exactly like this one.

How Interior Today LLC Builds Exhibit Booths for NACDS Total Store Expo
Interior Today LLC is a full-service exhibit booth builder with over 20 years of experience designing and constructing trade show exhibits for companies across the consumer health, beauty, CPG, and retail technology industries. We have built booths at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and are fully familiar with all BCEC regulations, union requirements, and fire code compliance procedures.
Here is how we work with NACDS exhibitors from first contact through show close.
Custom 3D Booth Design
We start every project by genuinely understanding your brand, your products, your target retail buyers at the show, and your goals for the event. Our design team creates a fully custom 3D visualization of your booth before a single piece of material is produced. You see exactly what you will have on the floor before we build it.
In-House Fabrication
We build every booth ourselves in our own manufacturing facility. No outsourcing, no subcontractors, no quality compromises. This means tighter build standards, faster production, and pricing that is not inflated by third-party markups.
Graphic Production
Your booth graphics are often the fastest signal your brand sends to a passing retail buyer. Our in-house graphic production team creates large-format, high-resolution booth graphics, backwall panels, hanging signs, and custom displays optimized for the BCEC’s lighting and the visual demands of a high-traffic show floor.
BCEC Compliance and Special Approvals
If your booth design includes multi-level structures, covered areas, or hanging signs, Interior Today LLC manages the complete compliance and approval process with NACDS and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. We submit engineering drawings, coordinate fire code requirements, and handle sprinkler and smoke detector requirements on your behalf.
Professional Installation and Dismantling
Our certified installation crews know the BCEC and its union labor requirements. We arrive on schedule, build your booth precisely to plan, and conduct a thorough quality check before the show opens. After the event closes on August 17, we manage complete dismantling starting at the permitted 5:00 PM time.
Logistics and Storage
We manage the full logistics chain from our production facility to the BCEC and back, including coordination with Freeman, the official General Service Contractor for NACDS Total Store Expo. We also offer secure storage for your booth properties between events.

Booth Types We Build for NACDS Total Store Expo
Custom Island Exhibits (20×20 and larger) — Open on all four sides, ideal for maximum visibility and retail buyer traffic flow. We design island booths with product display areas, private meeting rooms, demo stations, and branded environments that draw buyers from across the hall.
Double-Deck and Two-Story Exhibits — A powerful choice for brands that want to maximize their floor footprint with a second level for private buyer meetings or executive presentations. All double-deck builds include full fire code compliance and engineering documentation for NACDS and BCEC approval.
Inline Linear Booths (10×10, 10×20, and larger) — Precision-designed inline exhibits that make maximum impact within the NACDS height and depth regulations. Strong inline booth design competes effectively with much larger exhibits when every detail is executed with intention.
Modular and Reconfigurable Systems — Flexible exhibit structures that work at NACDS and adapt to different booth sizes at other retail industry shows throughout the year.
Custom Rental Exhibits — Fully branded, professionally designed rental booths for companies wanting a premium exhibit presence at lower investment than a purchased build.
